Symaga Group is a Spanish family-owned business with an international scope, specialized in designing, manufacturing and marketing of galvanized steel silos. Alfonso Garrido founded the company in 1985 in Villarta de San Juan, a small agricultural village from La Mancha, Spain. That small craft of 200 m² has become among the leaders of the world silo manufacturers. Today Symaga has a fully automated factory with computer numerical control and cutting-edge technology. It has a now manufacturing plant and logistic area occupy up to 60,000 m². The company has exceeded 6,000 installations, building more than 24 million m³ of grain storage in more than 120 countries. Its export rate is over 90%.
Speaking to Miller Magazine, Alfonso Garrido, CEO of Symaga, attributes the success of the company to the Symaga Philosophy, and he defines this philosophy as providing optimum storage, which takes care of the grain, reaching the maximum efficiency and customer satisfaction. Symaga has become a market leader in designing and manufacturing of galvanized steel silos in 30 years. Could you please provide us with some brief background information on your company and its activities?
Symaga Silos is a Spanish family-owned business with an international scope, specialized in designing, manufacturing and marketing of galvanized steel silos available for different industries such as breweries, animal feed, port facilities, flour mills, ethanol, drying, and storage of raw materials for the plastic industry and biofuels. Backed by an experience of more than 30 years, the company has exceeded 6,000 installations, building more than 24 million m³ of grain storage in more than 120 countries. Beginning the production in a small craft of 200 m², Symaga is now a company that exports to more than 140 countries. This is really amazing. What is the secret behind this success? Could you tell us how Symaga has come to its current position?
Symaga Philosophy is the secret behind this success. Our main objective is to provide optimum storage, which takes care of the grain, reaching the maximum efficiency and customer satisfaction. The constant investment in updated technology has achieved total automation, reaching maximum quality standards. Symaga obtained CE certificate, becoming the first silo manufacturer obtaining it. Moreover, the integral traceability system has its own quality control system, allowing us to control all manufactured product at real-time.
Reliability and quality of our silo. Our products are renowned for their durability and easy-assemble. Silos are manufactured in corrugated galvanized steel, with a 600 gr/m² coating in cylinder, and zinc-magnesium covering in the roof, ensuring a double service life more than other suppliers. The raw material used in the process is certified, with maximum quality, and European origin.
Can you give us some information about your production capacity and facilities? How many people do you employ?
More than 200 employees. 20 technicians in our Engineering Department. Moreover, our multi-lingual Commercial Department facilitates communication.
Facilities… Symaga has a fully automated factory with computer numerical control and cutting-edge technology. Facilities are located in La Mancha. Manufacturing plant and logistic area occupy up to 60,000 m² in the total of 100,000 m² building area, in a total of 400,000 m² family owned land on which it resides. It also counts with a technical and commercial office in Madrid from 2007.
You launched two new brands in 2016. How did these brands contribute to your growth?
Symaga Group invested huge productive and human resources in order to entitle these divisions as a corporative unit. Now, we are continuing to invest in order to develop a competitive product line. Growket, focused on feed silo and poultry and pig equipment. The founder began its trajectory in the livestock sector. Historically Symaga has worked in different projects, now the aim is to become a worldwide leader like in industrial silos. Agravid, the other line, is specialized in manufacturing agricultural equipment such as water tanks and vineyard equipment. We consider water tanks as a growing niche market.
There are many companies in the grain storage industry. What distinguishes you from others?
Our manufacture and technical capacity. Our Technical and Engineering Department are always available for our customers: since the initial layout configuration until the assembly finalization. In 2017 we created a Projects Department for key projects. Biggest storage project around the world, not only requires our state-of-the-art fully automated factory, but also requires total coordination of Symaga team.
